
These model by-laws are created to bring uniformity in the functioning of cooperative credit societies. If your institution is truly facing injustice or if practical convenience is lacking, every institution has the right to make the necessary changes within the legal framework. However, while expressing opinions on any public matter, if we think comprehensively and more thoroughly before reacting, it will help clear many unnecessary misunderstandings - and that is the very purpose of this writing!
On 29.07.2025, the Hon. Commissioner for Cooperation and Registrar directed the Model Bye-laws for Non-Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies in the state of Maharashtra. After this, some newspapers as well as social media platforms expressed mixed reactions - both favorable and unfavorable - regarding certain provisions of the Model Bye-laws.
