

The rise of UPI and digital wallets has accelerated India’s digital payment revolution. Yet, trust in banking still relies heavily on human interaction, especially among senior citizens, rural customers, farmers, and small entrepreneurs. While technology is transforming banking, qualities such as empathy, relationship-building, communication, and sound decision-making remain indispensable. Banking will be truly resilient and trustworthy only when artificial intelligence and digital innovation go hand in hand with human relationships.
The banking system of today is changing rapidly. Earlier, a bank meant customers, counters, passbooks, discussions over tea, the personal acquaintance of the branch manager, and a feeling of our own person. Today, the face of banking has changed. Mobile banking, internet banking, UPI, ATM, POS, AI-based services, digital KYC, services via video calls, chatbots, and automation.
