Multi-state credit societies now have the chance to convert themselves into banks after the RBI initiative. Once these institutions convert to banking, deposit insurance protection cover will start with new employment opportunities in the banking sector. The increasing competition will make banks focus more on efficiency and quality customer service. The State of Maharashtra is going to benefit in many ways as the new institutes will add to the present concentration of UCBs in the state multiplying the benefits.
