Acceptance of Green Deposits by Banks : An Overview

Banks accept green deposits for a specified period to reduce risks related to climate change. Banks have started green deposit schemes e.g. the State Bank of India (SBI) has introduced the “SBI Green Rupee Term Deposit” to mobilize deposits. It is necessary to create awareness about green deposits among banks, so that retail customers, companies, trusts and high-net-worth individuals participate widely in green deposits to become a major source of funds. But there is still a long way to go.

Today, climate change is being widely discussed as one of the most serious challenges facing the global economy.
