India's cooperative movement is a development model based on democratic principles. There are about 8.5 lakh cooperative institutions and 1 to 1.2 lakh Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in the country, with more than 13 crore farmer members. The modernization of their traditional working methods has begun through digitization and training.
