India's cooperative movement is a development model based on democratic principles. There are about 8.5 lakh cooperative institutions and 1 to 1.2 lakh Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in the country, with more than 13 crore farmer members. The modernization of their traditional working methods has begun through digitization and training. The National Cooperation Policy 2025, the Amul model, and the National Cooperative Council are part of these very changes.
